The Australian Outward Bound Development Fund

The Australian Outward Bound Development Fund (AOBDF) was established in 1999. It is a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) as well as being endorsed as an Income Tax Exempt Charity (ITEC) and a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR).

Financial assistance is granted on the understanding that the applicant makes a contribution in an amount he or she can afford. This will either constitute part of the course fee or be channeled directly to the AOBDF as a (nonrefundable) donation, establishing a commitment to attend and introducing the recipient to the "circle of giving", by assisting another in similar need.

The AOBDF is generously supported by individuals, trusts, and organisations and supports programs and projects of Outward Bound Australia including Regional Partnerships and Community Partnerships through the Community Fund, Individual Scholarships through the Participant Fund and Staff Scholarships through the Staff Fund. Such partnerships and scholarships have allowed over 2000 young people since 1999 to have an otherwise unafordable or unattainable Outward Bound Outdoor Education and adventure style personal development experience.

Outward Bound is about building stronger communities by inspiring the new generation.

Testimonials

The feedback from the outward bound students has been fantastic. Similar feedback from parents - two saying it was the best experience their children have ever had.
Mick Eller - Principal, Kempsey High School

I expect years from now the Outward Bound adventure will be a common reference point in the lives of a community of people.
Robert Biggs - Principal - Irymple Secondary College, Mildura

The benefits of an Outward Bound Course are amazing.
I believe anyone who goes through such a self-reflecting experience will return with an incredible sense of self-awareness that strengthens your perceptions of the world despite the influence of society.
Robbie Gladman, Navigator Participant

I can not speak highly enough of the quality of programs Outward Bound offer and urge you to support them generously.
Jocellin Jansson - Executive Director, Country Education Foundation of Australia
